Makalu Trekking

Makalu trekking area is located in eastern part ofNepal. It is covered by the Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Project. It was established in 1992 and covers 2330 sq km areas. Among the 16 mountains in the park, it is home to Makalu which is the fifth highest mountain in the world (8463m/ 27,766ft).
Formerly a restricted area, it includes five major ecological zones. In this area you can found the lush, tropical Arun Valley, dense forests of rhododendron  and alpine meadows that lead to the might Barun glacier.Mt. Makalu can be viewed from base camp.
This mainly low altitude trek is centered on the deepest Arun Valley. The sub-tropical valley floor of the mighty Arun River is in places densely forested, contrasting with the terraced slopes higher up, which are farmed by villagers of diverse tribal groups. High pastures typify the upper slopes, which border on the Makalu-Barun National Park. It is an important conservation area for many threatened species.
The trails rise from 850 meters (2,788ft) to 5000 meters (16,900ft) above sea level.

  1. It was the same thing after the two regional games that we played. We started looking to the next game. There wasn't a lot of celebration going on. Not just because we want the big trophy, and we want to say we're the state champs, but because this team has come together so well in the past month or so. We want to keep it going a few more days. That's a real tribute to the entire team. More than winning gold and getting the ring — they want to stay together and enjoy the journey as long as we can.
